Rx: Perspective

earth, from the moon

[tweetmeme]Every now and then everyone needs a healthy dose of perspective. To step out of the box and view things from a little bit higher of a vantage point.

Complaining about the way things are only continues to fuel the way things are.

Complaining in general is a waste of time – as is worry.

What’s going to happen is going to happen as a result of the actions we take now – for better or for worse.

If you don’t like what’s happening now, do something about it.

Nothing we worry about can be solved by more worrying.

What was once an ‘end-of-the-world’ problem can become a little bit smaller when we put things in perspective.

Someone, somewhere – is going through similar problems you’re going through, dealing with the same issues and having the same struggles – if not worse.

It’s all about perspective.

You are one of 6.5 billion people that woke up today. We are one galaxy of an estimated 100 billion in the universe.  It’s recorded that the human eye can only see 3,000 stars on the clearest night – our galaxy alone contains over 100,000,000,000.

We live on a pretty small planet that orbits a star at roughly 30km per second.  Our solar system orbits the center of our galaxy at about 220km per second.

“Humans are genetically connected with life on Earth, chemically connected with life on other star systems and atomically connected with all matter in the universe” -Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Top Ten Favorite Facts About the Universe

At our core, we’re comprised of the same elements that make up stars and galaxies billions of light years away.

The richest 20 percent of the world’s population accounts for three quarters of the world’s income. You’re one of the estimated 24% of the population with access to the internet.

Problems are temporary.  How we view life lived on our death bed is not.   Nobody wants regrets; I should have done this or that.

Make changes, start small and keep improving daily – and always keep things in perspective, there’s a reason each and every one of us is still breathing.

“Everyone has a purpose in life… a unique gift or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.” -Deepak Chopra
